Secure co-location internet business located in
the Principality of Sealand
SEALAND. (5 JUNE 2000)
HavenCo Ltd., a provider of secure off-shore infrastructure for
electronic business, has commenced operations in the Principality of
Sealand a made-made island fortress in the North Sea.
The HavenCo operation in Sealand will provide data co-location
services to a diverse clientele that wish to operate businesses in an
eCommerce friendly legal jurisdiction with strong guarantees of
privacy, security, and reliability. Online trials are being
conducted through July 2000 with full service expected to begin in
August of 2000.
Sealand has no laws governing data traffic, and the terms of
HavenCo's agreement with Sealand provide that none will ever be
enacted. The HavenCo Acceptable Use Policy bans the distribution of
child pornography from its servers, and prohibits use of the network
to send bulk unsolicited communications or launch digital attacks
against other computers or networks.
The countries that currently have the best infrastructure for
eCommerce are suppressing the growth of profitable Internet business
through ill conceived, constantly changing regulation and poor
enforcement policies. The United States' 'Digital Millennium
Copyright Act' and Britain's aptly named RIP (Regulation of
Investigatory Powers) Bill are but two such examples. HavenCo's
operation in Sealand offers a haven from such intrusive
legislation.
HavenCo CEO Sean Hastings states "Running an eBusiness 365 days a
year means that the political system needs to be at least as reliable
as your computer system. Until now, eCommerce politics has not been
as secure or stable as the computer systems used to run a company.
We're proud to be the first to create a secure and stable environment
where on-line business can flourish."

About The Principality of Sealand
Sealand was founded as a sovereign Principality in 1967 in
international waters, six miles off the eastern shores of Great
Britain. The Principality was originally known as Roughs Tower, an
island fortress created in World War II by Britain and subsequently
abandoned to the jurisdiction of the High Seas. The island fortress is
conveniently situated from 65 to 100 miles from the coasts of France,
Belgium, Holland and Germany.
The independence of Sealand was upheld in a 1968 British court
decision where the judge held that Roughs Tower stood in
international waters and did not fall under the legal jurisdiction of
the United Kingdom. This gave birth to Sealand's national motto of E
Mare Libertas, or "From the Sea, Freedom".
The official language of Sealand is English and the Sealand Dollar
has a fixed exchange rate of one U.S. dollar. Passports and stamps
have been in circulation since 1969. Contrary to many misleading
websites and news articles, Sealand passports are not -nor have ever
been- for sale. Anyone offering a Sealand passport for sale is
selling a forgery.
